HI
I have a weird problem with IP protocol running over X25. The versions:
DEC OSF/1 3.2 (Rev 214), X25 for DEC OSF/1 version V1.2.
The problem is as follows: we can ping a remote router (located in the
USA), which have an IP address of a.b.c.X, ( it's a C class IP address)
with 255.255.255.0 netmask, and from the remote node they can telnet us,
but the connections are very often interrupted abruptly.
Now, we can't ping ourselves ( we have an IP address a.b.c.Y, so we
belong to the same IP subnet of the router, with exactly the same
netmask ). When we issue the ping command, there is no response from
ourselves.
On the other hand, we can telnet the remote router.
Another weird behavior : the ping command returns incorrect time replies
when more than one session uses it. When from one terminal we execute
ping, response times from the remote router varies from 1.5 to 2.1 segs,
But when from a second session we issue the ping command, the response
times vary in this way : 1.5 the first ping, 2.3 the second, 3.4 the
third, and so on......getting even 300 segs of response time, which is
not real, as we get the replies quickly.
I don't know what to fix first. Does the X25 V1.3 version fixes these
bugs? which O.S. version do i need to use X25 1.3?
Any clues greatly appreciated.
TIA
