Duplicating the System Disk

Due to a suspected problem with a RZ28M drive (it's a problem with the
firmware version) DEC service has loaned us a new RZ28M drive. I need
to make the new RZ28M as an exact a copy of the old RZ28M as I can,
including the custom modifications to the disk label. The system is an
AlphaServer 1000 running Digital UNIX 3.2D. Based on the on-line
manuals from DU4.0, I suspect that the best procedure would be to boot
from the 3.2C CD-ROM, enter the standalone environment, and invoke the
following commands:

cd /dev
./MAKEDEV rz0 # if they don't exist
./MAKEDEV rz1 # if they don't exist
/kit/isl/dd if=/dev/rrz0c of=/dev/rr1c bs=512

Can anyone confirm that this is the best procedure and/or warn me of
any pitfalls that I need to be aware of?
