Hi Pam:
About the printer problems, here is a list of
some of the things we tried:
a)Tried setting up the printer as either a ln07r printer
(specifications used under DU3.x) or as dl1152 (new
specifications possilbe under DU4.0)---> neither one worked.
b)Tried changing settings on printer---> could still not get
neutrino to see printer.
c)Tried printer on other computer-->printer worked fine.
d)Tried two other postscript printers on neutrino,
a hp laserjet 3 and a hp laserjet 4--->could still not get
neutrino to see printer.
e)Replaced cable-->printer worked fine on other computer
with new cable, but did not work on neutrino. Note that
we checked the pinning of the printer port on neutrino
and it was identical to that of the other computer.
f)Hooked a vt100 terminal up to the printer port of neutrino,
and booted to the alternate consol-->standard messages
appeared on terminal screen showing that printer port
on neutrino was alive.
About the disk partitioning problems. I custom partitioned my two
disks during installation of DU4.0. This failed in several ways!!!
a) On my large disk, I eliminate one partition and
decreased the size of the h partition. None of the operating
system was installed on the h partition. Now it won't mount and
when I try to fsck it I get the error message:
# fsck /dev/rrz4h
/sbin/ufs_fsck /dev/rrz4h
** /dev/rrz4h
BAD SUPER BLOCK: MAGIC NUMBER WRONG
LOOK FOR ALTERNATE SUPERBLOCKS? [yn] y
SEARCH FOR ALTERNATE SUPER-BLOCK FAILED. YOU MUST USE THE
-b OPTION TO FSCK TO SPECIFY THE LOCATION OF AN ALTERNATE
SUPER-BLOCK TO SUPPLY NEEDED INFORMATION; SEE fsck(8).
#
b) On my small disk, I tried to eliminate the a partition
and make the b partition into swap space. The g partition
was left open, for later mounting. Well the g partition does
mount. BUT there is still an a partition!! It wrote a default
partitioning scheme instead of the one I specified!
In general, at this point I am ready to shoot my nearest
digital representative.
Any help would be appreciated.
Jim
