Thanks to all who answered my original question:

"I installed a second CPU in an alpha server 2100. Since then, I got
messages telling me (at boot time) that it can't find an OSF-BASE PAK.

None of the DEC people I talked to here was able to give me a definitive
answer to my question:

Do I need a special licence (supplementary) to use more than 1 CPU on an
ALPHA with Digital UNIX ?"

The answer:

YES. You need an OSF-BASE PAK per CPU. For an alpha server 2100, you need 1
licence with 400 units for the 1st CPU and an OSF-BASE PAK with 100 units
for each additionnal CPU.

                                        Thanks to all of you
