DEC Cobol V2.3 on DU4.0 - does it work?

Hi,

We need to run DEC Cobol V2.3 on DU4.0. The July 1996 Digital UNIX Alpha
Software Compatibility Matrix has "3.2C" in it's "OS SUPPORT / MAX"
column.

Is this a real limitation, or is it just not yet certified?

We have cobol classes starting next week that plan on using an Alphaserver
on which we were planning to install DU4.0.

(I searched the archives for this, since I thought I remembered a similar
question, but I didn't find it.)
