Defragmenting filedomains

Hello,

I'm about to start defragmenting filedomains on my servers. Before I start,
I would like to know:

1) Is it transparent to users or should I wait for the system to "calm down" ?
2) Is that a "safe" process ? Is there a risk of destroying my data (if for
example I don't have enough free space on a filedomain)
3) Is this OK to defragment a filedomain containing Oracle Database files
while Oracle is online ?
