The problem I had was the following :

One solution that worked, was to use the DLC protocol,and then as Hans Kuhn
wrote :
" To prevent NT from capturing the print queue, open properties for the
printer, select the ports tab and then the timers option. Then you can
change the connection from continuous to job-based. This will solve your
problem "
But I prefer to stay with TCP/IP and LPR.
So I tried a firmware upgrade of my printer (I was on level 3.0.16) to 5.0.5
This apparently solved the problem.
You can download the firmware "dlmswin.exe" from www.hp.com
I's a download manager (available for several types of platforms - I used
the Win95 version).
