    Managers,

I received two more replies after I posted my summary about the advisability
of installing a Seagate Barracuda as an internal drive in a DEC 3000/300 and
3000/400. I wish to thank

Joe Spanicek <joe_at_resptk.bhp.com.au>
Andreas Lundgren <atoalu2_at_ato.abb.se>

for their input that doing so is a Bad Thing.

So now I've purchased external enclosures for the drives. The 3000/300 only
has one SCSI bus, so I believe all I have to do is move the drive to the
enclosure and reboot. Right?

The 3000/400 has two buses so the drive number of the internal and external
drives are different. I am running DU 4.0, the drive has root, /usr and
/home. All filesystems are AdvFS. The SCSI target is 0. Is it possible to
do only:

# MAKEDEV rz8

and somehow mess with the links in /etc/fdmns, or do I have to vbackup/vrestore

I will summarize.
