I want to use a removable disk with DU 4.0B. Here are relevant info.
1) The disk is manufactured by Integral
2) The model is Viper 340
3) It resides on a PCMCIA-to-SCSI card
4) My Alpha computer is the VME/AXP 288, running DU 4.0B
5) The Alpha can see the disk. Here is the error message to the "file"
command
# file /dev/rrz2c
/dev/rrz2c: character special (8/2050) SCSI #0 SDDS J15 disk #16 (SCSI
ID #2
) (SCSI LUN #0)
6) But the "disklabel -z" command produced the following error message
# disklabel -z rz2
Disk is unlabeled or, /dev/rrz2a does not start at block 0 of the disk
7) I added the specs for this disk in the /etc/disktab file (I called the
disk rz99). Here is the error message for "disklabel -rw" command
# disklabel -rw rrz2c rz99
rz99: unknown disk type
8) And here is the error message for the "newfs" command
# newfs rrz2c rz99
newfs: rrz2c: disk is unlabeled and no entry found in disktab
9) Note: this disk "plugs and plays" with my Sun workstation running SunOS
4.1.3
PLEASE HELP. ANY COMMENTS WILL BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.
