Hi

There was a problem at the university regarding to a ultrix machine. I
was informed that one of the disks broke and no backups were made in
useful time. Dont ask me why, nor how it happened. I lost more than 6
months of my PhD. work... a complete desaster...

I used that machine tu dump my data and results that are obtained in the
cluster of osf and linux machines that I manage.

Well the thing is that someone made a copy of the disk partition to a
another disk but through device to device copy. The filesystem is
corrupted and the superblock is missing. What we know is that the
partition table on the disk desapeared...

Now I need to be able to get in the device and be able to find the
exact superblock in order to make fsck over the device.

well, could anyone please give me some hints?

cheers

miguel
