sar() is provided as a part of System V Environment
from Digital. Because of SVR4 licensing, its a
separate product that provides almost all of SVR4
features that coexist with the base.

I received your email from our group in New Jersey. I understand you
already got a response regarding your question, but wanted to send
additional information that pertains to ordering, should you decide to
do so.

The sar command is part of our System V Environment product (SVE),
which is purchased as a separate layered product and runs on the
DIGITAL UNIX base operating system (on Alpha platforms).

To order SVE, you can call 1-800-DIGITAL. The Software License number
for SVE is: QL-0J6A*.** (the asterisks indicate which hardware
platform). You would need to specify the Alpha hardware you would be
using, and that you would be running SVE on the DIGITAL UNIX operating
system. From there, our Sales support people can bring you through
the ordering process.

Thank you for your inquiry.

Sincerely,

Barbara Power

----------------------------------
There is a sar utility for Digital Unix, but it is part of the
"System V Environment" (SVE) layered product. The product requires a
separate license and because of SVR4 licensing restrictions, source
code is not available.

SVE co-exists with DU allowing users to individually choose DU or
System V behavior. The product provides a number of utilites such as
sar, cscope, truss, etc. as well as System V behavior for the
remainder of the OS commands. If you have any further questions,
please let me know.

-------------------------------------------
Sar is part of the System V extensions and can be found on the CD
marked "complimentary products". It is Subject to a licence fee
however as this software is not DEC's.

If you are upgrading to version 4 DU then it is now part of the
install cd set.

Thanks
