vdump command

What is the optimum blocksize parameter, -b, to use with the
vdump command when writing to a DLT 2000 tape drive (15GB native)
and onboard data compression when
   a. file system is on same box as tape drive
   b. tape drive is on a remote box and vdump is
piped to the (rsh)dd command on the tape drive box?

I pose the two different cases because perhaps the network
route (b.) imposes a bottleneck relative to the DLT streaming
tape speeds and then the block size optimization follows a different
logic.

Thanks,
-Neil
