I have installed AVS 5.3 on my Digital Alphastation 500/400, with the
Powerstorm 4D50T 3D accelerator. Open3D is installed, and the
server configuration claims to be loading the PEX/PHIGS extension.
However, the PEX extension doesn't display in xdpyinfo:
number of extensions: 26
Adobe-DPS-Extension
BIG-REQUESTS
DEC-Direct-Render
DEC-E3-SPECIAL
DEC-GLX
DEC-PEER-GLX
DEC-XTRAP

MIT-SHM
MIT-SUNDRY-NONSTANDARD

Here is the appropriate (I believe) section of my Xserver.conf:

I have checked that the libraries listed under _dec_PEX exist:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root bin 24576 Mar 17 12:51
/usr/shlib/X11/lib_dec_PEX.so
-rw-r--r-- 1 root bin 221184 Mar 17 12:51
/usr/shlib/X11/lib_dec_3dlib.so
-rw-r--r-- 1 root bin 851968 Mar 17 12:51
/usr/shlib/X11/lib_dec_x3d_pex.so
I couldn't find anything in release notes that indicate that PEX is not
supported on the 4D50T.
Does anyone know the magic incantation I need? AVS comes up in software
rendering only, and although the rendering is quite adequate, it is
certainly not at hardware speed!
Thanks for any help.
