Customization

Hello Guys:

I need specific information regarding customization of DEC OSF/1 V.3.2D.
my questions are

1) How i can use gif images at the background by using xsetroot
utility.Actually I need syntax?

2) How I can change display setting of DEC OSF/1 V.3.2 i.e login prompt.

3) Could anybody guide me about customization of dec windows similar to
win95 .
