Hi-

I am wondering if anyone out there has experienced problems with the
AlphaStation 500's with Digtial Unix 3.2G losing contact with the
keyboard and mouse (PS/2 module). I have 4 of these, and 3 of them
have done this now. The problem manifests itself in a black screen
(the X window blank) that never goes away. The machine still allows
logins and such from the network but no input on the console (:0.0).
Stopping and starting xdm makes no difference. The login screen
comes up but does not *see* the keyboard and mouse. The only apperent
solution is to reboot the machine.

Configs:
AlphaStation 500/266
PCXAL PC style keyboard (curiously the one with the PS/2 LK411
                         has not done it yet)
3-button DEC mouse
ZLXp-E1 Graphics Card (1280x1024 mode)
Digital Unix 3.2G
Firmware revision: 6.4
PALcode: OSF version 1.21

Any ideas? Is this a firmware problem? A hardware issue? One of
the machines kept doing it until I started using xlock launched from
xautolock (a cool application, I might add). I also noticed that
the machines seemed a bit warmer than usual (this might be a red herring).

Thanks,
Sean
