File Permissions

This is not strictly a DU question, but a UNIX/ftp question in general.

I have a structure like this:

/

drwxrwxr-x 27 httpd Adm 8192 Oct 27 16:11 public

/public

drwxr-xr-x 10 dhusen users 8192 Oct 27 15:51 ppress

dhusen is not a member of the Adm group, but would like to use an ftp
client (Fetch for the Mac) to upload a new ppress folder when things
change. However, since this user does have write permissions to the
/public directory they can't replace the ppress folder even though they
are the owner. Is there anyway to do this easily without compromising
security?
