Network/Backup Problem

Hi DU Managers,

We recently moved our Alphas and some other Unix(s) to an fddi
ring. The increase in speed of traffic between fddi networked
nodes has been outstanding. However, the backups now take twice
as long as before between the fddi nodes. This is really confusing
because the fddi network has been so fast for everything else.

The backup device is a Quantum DLT 4700 stacker. I can't find
anything using uerf that points to any hardware errors. The non
fddi nodes that backup to this same device are running at the
same speed as before if not better. Has anyone else experienced
 this? Clues? Thanks, I'll summerize.
