Sorry it's taking so long to get back to everyone with a summary this.
I've had a bit of the stomach flu, and the last thing I've felt like
doing is working on non crisis scripts.
Anyway. I've recieved a large number of responces to my request, most
of them refer to Perl scripts, next most common is to use the "expr"
utlility, there were a couple of seds with pipes through expr, and I
even got a couple of bc pipes.
I haven't had a chance to work with any of them, but as soon as I do, I
will summarize with the top few solutions, and once I get the script to
work, I'll include that as well. I think that some may find it useful
(especially when our DBAs ask how much memory they are actually using).
