Tar problem

Hello all!

We have a DEC Alpha 2100 running UNIX 3.2G. We received a data tape from
the client. I tried extracting the tape but received the following error:

# tar xvf /dev/rmt1h
tar: [offset 0]: No space left on device

Is this a problem with the tape OR....?
