Hot swappable drives

Hi all,

I'm contemplating the option of adding a drive to my Alpha 800, and I'm
wondering if the hot swap capability is really fully implemented.
What level of hot swap can I expect to find?
Can I safely plug in a new drive without any side effect?
Some drives may not be quite up to the standards of the highest level of hot
swappability, so what drives can safely be used?
I'm looking at the possibility of a 9 or 18 gig Ultra2 wide Quantum (with the
single 80 pins connector) but I see in the docs that it may still be possible to
get side effects as they say it hasn't been tested enough to guarantee perfect
hot swapping.
Can anyone shed some light on this?
