The answer from Leif Bergman <bergman_at_itech.net> was:
Try: /sbin/init s
You may have to do a /sbin/bcheckrc also to see all your
filesystems.
That did the trick. I was trying to boot the system into single user using
the boot_osflags set to s and that did not work. This solution was just
what I needed.
