who pointed me to the right direction.
I found what went wrong myself:
I setup ewa0 (ethernet port) as the boot device, and there happened to be
a major network disruption during the installation, hence the timeout.
I've changed to DKC0 (dkc0.0.0.1009.0 DKC0 RZ1CC-BA 883F) and everything
is fine now.
