How to upgrade firmware without a console?

Hi,
I accidentally erased CMOS on Alpha 400, there is no console.
The system boots it takes about 20-25 min.

1.Is it possible to update firmware without the console and if so how?
2.I remember seeing something about bootp.

I am dealing with Alpha hardware for the first time, any help and or
pointers
in the right direction are appreciated.
