"The Kernel Cache is empty"

Hi all!

I realize that this question has been posted before, but I thought that I'd
ask about it again. When upgrading my 4100 from 4.0B to 4.0D this last
weekend, I received a message that said "The Kernel Cache is empty" shortly
after upgrading my firmware, before upgrading my operating system. This
message kept coming up every time that I'd try to do something from the UNIX
command line, and the way that I've found to get rid of this message is to
make all of my software licenses active again through lmf. What I'm
wondering is what causes this message to appear and is there a way around it
so that I don't have to load all of my software licenses again to proceed
with my upgrade? (I had to reload them all a few times)

Thanks!
