I'm considering using Jaz drives as an alternative to the optical disks
that DEC (oops, Compaq) sells, because the OFS has such enormous
performance problems it's not even funny. Problem: during trials, I
found out that it is possible to hit the eject button on the front of
the drive while the drive is logically mounted (from DU's perspective).
This is a Bad Thing. I've also tried writing the disk with a disklabel
that sets up the drive as a removable device using the following disktab
entry;
jaz|Jaz|Iomega Jaz drive:\
:ty=removable:dt=SCSI:ns#130:nt#5:nc#3217:\
:oc#0:pc#2091050:bc#8192:fc#1024:
I can, however, use the scu utility to prevent the soft switch from
ejecting the cartridge. (Interestingly, if I use the "eject" command in
scu, it doesn't let me -- leading me to suspect that the drivers aren't
actually propagating the "disable eject" command back to the drive.)
Does anybody know if it might be possible to dork the CAM software to
prevent this kind of dumbass attack on the drive?
