Hello osf-managers,
We would like to build a filesystem thru controller-based RAID that will
receive a large amount of small files (our mailserver will write incoming mail
messages to this filesystem). Our main concern is high disk performance on
writes and data redundancy. We have six DS-RZ1CB SCSI disks (4.3gb) to build
this filesystem and could live with a 50% reduction in storage size if
necessary (raid 1 or 0+1).
I have read various articles on performance : some have stated RAID 5
would provide lower performance for our needs. Others say RAID 5 does not
decrease performance for many writes.
We would like to configure controller-based RAID 5 if possible. If anyone
has advice and experience with this scenario, please let me know.
thank you in advance.
