--- Is this a new DS700 or used? If used, I recommend doing a factory reset on it. Power off, press and hold the little button next to the power cord and reapply power holding the button. After about 15 seconds, or until you see an E in the LED, let go. This will then restore the factory settings, including the privileged password. Once done, connect a terminal or PC with a terminal emulator (I'd use something, anything else that your DU box) to PORT 1 and set the buad to 9600, 8-bit no parity. At that point, you should be able to see everything. If you can tell me what the LED is stopping at, I can probably tell you what it is, but my guess is that you do not have your tftp deamon configured properly to handle the OS download... --- This one from Karl Majer <majer_at_aol.net>: --- Hi there. 1. Use tip instead of cu. 2. Add the following to the /etc/remotes file. remote:dv=/dev/tty01:br#9600: then the following will work: $ tip remote <CR> <CR> And you should get a console for the other machine. Karl --- Unfortunately, I couldn't get it working on the Alphaserver. I finally got it working via a PC. I'm still not clear on what I need to do to get it working on the AlphaServer. What about the flow control for the device and other options that can be configured on the EPROM?
