Dear Managers:
If the command "last" reports a user logging in from
ournameserver.ourdomain.edu
which reference appears in /etc/hosts but not in
/etc/namedb/hosts.db
what type of login does this represent?
This type of login is a small minority of logins to our system.
Most of the logins have a NODE <NODE#> reference (dial-in) or an
IP reference xxx.xxx.xx.xxx (telnet in from somewhere on our network)
or a reference like someserver.somedomain.edu (telnet in from outside).
Your advice is greatly appreciated.
