Hello, fellas,
We have several problems running LAN emulation services. It would be great if you could
provide some advice on these:
1. For some reasons we do not have
LECS configured on the well-known VPI-VCI, therefore the LEC needs to know the address
of LECS in order to be directed to a particular LES. The "atmelan" command used to
create LAN emulation client does not have a way to specify the address of LECS. Therefore
once started, the system cannot establish connection to the LECS. It keeps trying and
failing with "LANE connection released, cause = 3" message.
2. We've tried to specify the address of LES directly using the "les=ATM_ADDRESS" option
for "atmelan". In this case it does establish connection with LES (from the LES
statistics), but connection gets dropped with the error message of "null connection handle,
connection released, cause = 31".
Where can I find the explanation of this error message? I haven't looked at ATM forum docs
for cause 31, will do it ASAP, but what about "null connection handle"
3. The third quiestion which is unresolved is how should the LEC be stopped and elan0...
inetrface removed? Ifconfig'ing "elan0" down does not prevent the system from keeping to
send requests for connection establishment with LECS or LES, no matter what. If I put the
ATM driver offline, attempts stop (not surprisingly :), but this also kills Classical IP
running on the same driver, when I put the driver back online to restore Classical IP
connections, LEC resumes stubbornly its connection attempts.
So is it possible to stop LEC (and Classical IP, for that matter) altogether, without
shutting down the ATM driver?
Thanks in advance,
