Thank you George,
my question was:
given the following output of "voldg free", which column shows the
"device media name" and which difference is between DISK, DEVICE, TAG?
GROUP DISK DEVICE TAG OFFSET LENGTH FLAGS
rootdg rz2d rz2d rz2 0 1848432 -
rootdg rz5d rz5d rz5 0 1848432 -
following your assumptions i tried things out. Except for "DISK" and
"DEVICE" your right. For DISK and DEVICE you only have to exchange their
explanations vice versa, so the following would be alright!
>GROUP is the LSM diskgroup the device media has been assigned to => THAT's
>IT
>DISK is the physical disk name (whole disk {rz2} or partition of a disk
>{rz2d}), known to Unix O/S.
>DEVICE is the LSM device media (disk, or disk partition) name. For
>instance, you could have added physical disk rz2 and given it a device media
>name of "disk02", or added physical disk partition rz2d and
>given it a device media name of "disk02d".
>TAG is the O/S's physical disk to which a DISK (could actually be a
>partition like your rz2d) and DEVICE (could be named "Fred" if you want,
>since you assign it) are related
