My original question was:
" am trying to set up NetWorker 4.4 on a AS 2100 running DU 4.0D, but I
have run into a rather annoying roadblock.
I installed the necessary licenses, then installed the entire package
(all 4 modules). The program executes and looks just like it should.
However, when I try to change anything, such as the tape drives, backup
schedules, etc, it tells me that it is in read-only mode.
I am running this as root, and the executables are owned by root with
the proper permissions to make it work (supposedly).
Does anyone have any ideas, tips, or experiences about how to get it to
run on 4.0D in something other than read-only mode (such as actually
letting me do something)?"
Thanks to the following who responded:

William Magill <magill_at_isc.upenn.edu>
Paul Yahnig <Yahnig_at_GroupWise.Kean.EDU>
Summarizing the responses, I had a few that suggested I did not have the
NSR Server and NSR Client license installed, or didn't have the proper
tape device on the system. I forgot to mention that I did have the
licenses installed on the server in my original email. Sorry about
that.
A couple of other responses mentioned to check the server administrator
field to make sure it was "root_at_servername" where servername was my
server. I checked that, tried to change it, and it gave me a read-only
error also. Hrm.
However, Mr. Yahnig hit the nail on the head. He suggested to delete
the original tape device that NSR thought I had, and even restart the
NSR daemons to "give it a jumpstart". I did that, and now everything is
working fine.
Thanks once again for all of your help!
