You Folks are GREAT!!!
The original question was:
I'm trying to figure out why when I telnet into my 8200 (running DU V 4.0b
patch level 12) from a local host I get the logon screen almost instantly.
But when I do a telnet from a remote host it takes about 1 and 1/2 minutes
to get the logon screen. WHY?
I received responses from:

All of the responses pointed to DNS. What I found was on the 8200 under the
BIND CONFIG: Config Server the Name Server's resolution order was set to
"BINDS Database, Local Host File, NIS". By changing the order to "Local
Host File, BINDS Database, NIS" (which also changed the scope from Master to
Slave) the problem was solved.
Again, thank you,
