We are upgrading 7 vintage 1994 DEC 3000-300 and 3000-700 systems in order to get Y2K compliant. I have never performed an upgrade for these systems, so I have several questions.
1) Currently the systems seem to run Digital Unix 4.0A+patches that was set up before I arrived. I am considering two options:
Upgrading to 4.0D and adding any needed patches
Upgrading to 4.0D and then upgrading to 4.0E/F (it seems from the documentation that you can't go from 4.0A -> 4.0E)
Are there any snags I should be looking out for when upgrading? Should I re-install instead?
2) I received a Firmware CD(V5.3)and ECU (V1.11A) disk with the 4.0E package. I understand how to upgrade the Firmware using the CD, but I am unsure of the purpose of
the Floppy disk.
3) Are there any WWW pages that have a step-by-step procedure for upgrading?
Thanks!
