Dear Managers,
First I wish to express my special thanks to:

- David Hull <David_Hull_at_Jabil.com>
- Alan <alan_at_nabeth.cxo.dec.com>
- William H. Magill <magill_at_isc.upenn.edu>
The solution I had to adopt is to use hszterm. The problem with SWCC is described in William's answer and I quote "...and do not wish to have an NT system necessary to support my DU alpha." Mainly because I am implementing some scripts to be automaticaly called by a UPS software in order to cleanly shutdown the HSZ40 in case of power exaustion. And all this in a TruCluster environment, that has its own startup/stop scripts.
Thank you all list members

I am looking for software to control/monitor/configure a StorageWorks from Tru64-Unix. The aims are:
- create scripts for automated shutdown/startup of the HSZ40 controller,
- manage de storage system without having to directly attach a serial terminal to the controller.
I know that there is a subset, SWA110, to do the task, but in the quarterly software library release, it is announced that it is going to be retired.
Is there any newer version of this subset ? Where ? If not, is there any other tool to do the task runable on Tru64 ? Is it reliable ?
Thanks in advance
Yours sincerely,
Antonio Urbano

SWCC (Storage Works Command Console ) would most likely be what your
lohing for.
You can interface with NT/UNIX/VMS (&other) Storage if it is
installed.
The UNIX system has an "agent(s)" and an INTEL PC has the front
end.

try hszterm, I believe it comes with swcc, which is a free download from
compaq. Gives you access to all CLI commands from the UNIX command line.
Cheers,
David Hull

A future version of SWCC is supposed to a scripting feature
to replace the need for HSZterm. As far as I know those are
the only two choices. If SWCC isn't an adequate solution
for you, then you'll want to save that HSZterm kit and
continue to use it for as long as it works. At its heart
it does little more than SCSI Send and Receive Diagnostic
commands to implement the virtual terminal protocol.

The bad news is:
The StorageWorks GURUs - Larry Richie and Chet Jackobs constantly claim
that SW supports DU. The reality is SW does not.
SW believes that because they have "agents" which run on DU, they are
supporting it. I've been telling them for years that I do not have
and do not wish to have an NT system necessary to support my DU alpha.
So far those plees have fallen on deaf ears.
It is enough to cause one to shift to another vendor -- the only problem is
NO STORAGE VENDOR supports DU. It is really pathetic.
