Thanks to C.Ruhnke & Joe Fletcher for answering my question in seconds after it
posted on my incoming. Also thanks to Alan Garde, who informed me that the
location I posted for AdvFS patches was actually for the Advanced Server. (this
is what I get for not checking out the information that was sent to me before I
repost it- my apologies). This has been corrected. I also found out that all
patches to AdvFS prior to 4.0E are incorrect (if I read the documentation
correctly). There was a problem with the defrag program in 4.0A->4.0D. (hence
the 4.0e at the end of the URL.
My question was - do I need to purchase the CDs for AdvFS when I do the upgrade
from 3.2G ->4.0A ->4.0D.
They both told me that it is now part of the operating system, and all I need
is the license (that I do have).
This optional subset is distributed on the Associated Products
Volume 2 CDROM in the standard Digital UNIX/Tru64 CD kit.
As long as you have the license loaded (run "lmf list" and look for the
license ADVFS-UTILITIES) you can load and run this subset.
The latest version of the ADVfs utils is downloadable from DEC's web sites
http://ftp.service.digital.com/patches/public/Digital_UNIX/v4.0d/advfs/4.0e.
