dxaccounts refuses to add users

Hello fellow managers,

I've got here one DU v4.0b box and every time I try to add users through
dxacounts I get:

            The password or group file is currently locked by another
user. Please wait ans retry the operation
            again later

I have searched for ":0" files all around and of course rebooted the
machine, but I really couldn't find the problem. I am using normal NIS
serving Alphas and SUNs.
