ADVFS cloning of Oracle Database and Logs.

Hi all,
    just a quick query regarding clone file sets. I have several Oracle
databases and in order to limit the down-time due to backups I plan to
use cloned ADVFS file sets. My query is do I have to stop the Oracle
processes before cloning or can it be performed HOT?
