Greetings,
We have two Alpha 500 servers, one is running OS 4.0f and the other OS 4.0e
Both have a SWXCR card installed (card is stamped with dec id KZPSC), each server is mirroring 4 disks (4 on channel 0 and 4 on channel 1) The disks are IBM DRVS 9.1 gig drives.
The SWXCR card is running firmware 2.49
Both servers have the same problem: once or twice a day we lose one of the disks, we have never lost both sides of the raid concurrently so thus far it's just a matter of rebuilding the failed disk with SWXCRMGR.
I have swapped out the disks with new ones, and even low-level formatted the disks, also tried writing zeros to the whole disk... it still keeps happening, It seems pretty random as to which channel the failed disk is on.
My question is does anyone know of any way to force the SWXCR to give up more informative data other then the "Logical RAID drive x is degraded, the hard disk at channel x, target x is failed" that swxrmon pumps out?
Or better yet, does anyone have any insight into this problem or had a similiar experience??
All help greatly appreciated!!!
