Greetings,
we have got a strange behavior at (only some of our) workstations.
The situation is that some(only some) (NIS) users cannot login at the
local x console of some workstations.
Lets say user TEST cannot login into ws17 local x console. He gets the
error message: Login incorrect. (As if the password was wrong)
But this users can log into ws30 local x console. Both ws17 and ws30 are
NIS-clients to the same NIS-MASTER server. And "ypcat passwd" brings
the same result at both machines.
But now the stranges thing: User TEST can still telnet into ws17.
My question is, is there a file, which says who can log into
x at ws17, or something like that. I am very confused.
I wrote a script with compares every file in the /etc directory
of both machines (ws17 and ws30) and printed out the differences.
But I didn't find something related.
Configuration:
DU4.0e on clients, DU4.0f on server.
Clients: Digital Personal Workstation 600au
Server: Digital AlphaServer 800 5/500
Bye for now.
