Thank you to all who responded!! :)

PROBLEM: No video when installing the PowerStorm 4D51T graphics
Accelerator card in an Alpha Server 4000. Blank screen, not even a
console appears. Monitor does not seem to initialize, indicator light
remains amber instead of turning green.

REASON: According to Compaq, the Alpha Server came with a Model
B3050-AA PCI/ISA back plane that does not supply the required 3.3V to
drive the PowerStorm 4D51T Graphics Accelerator Card. This card is not
supported in the Alpha Server 4000 with the B3050-AA PCI/ISA back plane.

SOLUTION: The backplane must be upgraded to the Model B3052-AA back
plane in order to install the Powerstorm 4D51T. This can be obtained
from Compaq. They also offer a discounted rate if you trade in the old
B3050-AA back plane through their upgrade program.
