Ihave a DS10 running Tru64 V4.0F and am trying to connect a Yamaha CRW6416S
on the internal 68pin SCSI-2 bus. The Yamaha device is a 50pin device. The
only other device is a 68pin scsi boot hard drive which came with the unit.

PARITY is ON
cable is terminated, cdrom is 5th on the cable with its own termination OFF
CDROM has 512KB jumper ON
tried setting scsi ID to 3,6,1 makes no difference!!

Questions:

 1. The DS10 will no longer BOOT giving the msg: waiting for dka0.7.0...
to poll ?? what does this msg mean?

 2. What effect does connecting a 50pin device onto a 68pin cable have?
    (is this the problem ??)

 3. Does anyone have any software which allows firmware upgrades to Yamaha
cdroms, without having to hook them up to a PC or Mac??? argh.

Please e-mail me with ANY information (even if it's obvious!!)

Many thanks,
