well, sorry for the stupid question. I received a lot of
replies saying ^[ does it. I knew that, but never really
thought to use it for some reason. I guess I just set
my sights on trying to change the ESC key instead.
one suggestion was to look at xmodmap, which I did
before sending the e-mail out, but wasn't able to successfully
use it.
