RIS problems

hi,

I can't seem to get the RIS working. I've set up everything (ris areas,
/etc/exports and nfs, tftp, bootp/dhcp) according to the docs and the
client manages to load the kernel but fails to mount root. Yes, mountd is
running on the server, and I can mount the ris areas from another machine.

It complains "whoami: no hostname" or something similar (after the "panic,
unable to mount root" message). I've checked that the dhcp/bootp server is
sending the hostname.

I've tried joind, bootpd from the obsolete dist, and ISC's dhcpd...all
have the same results.

Any ideas?

thanks,
