SUMMARY: Anyone done an RA3000 Second Controller Option Upgrade ?

Only one response on this one....
I did a call back from Compaq Support, finally.

Ends up that the SWCC "For Second Controller Option" CD is
just there for it's firmware. The "For Second Controller Option"
just denotes that it came with that kit (semi-guess here). It's still SWCC
V1.0.
And it just so happens, that Compaq Support has emailed me the latest
version - D11V.
AND I just downloaded the latest SWCC version - 2.1 from Compaq's site.
Thanks to Alan Davis for pointing me to a previous summary with the URL.

As far as the "flushing" of the RA3000 controller buffer cache, the
"shutdown"
of the controller, which is part of the Installation Manual instructions
will do that for me.

And YES, I can upgrade the firmware on the controller while in use.
It apparently reads the firmware into memory to run.

I'll post any "gotchas", if there are any...

Upgrade ?

I've got to do one, but the darn Installation Manual
isn't thorough. By procedure, it has me save my configuration
and then upgrade the firmware while the system is up and
running ( I'm shutting down my ASE service that uses the HSZ22
        first anyway).
The upgrade kit comes with a new SWCC CD labeled "For Second
Controller Option"
The Installation doesn't mention the CD at all. It's still V1.0 as
is the
current SWCC. The book that comes with the kit is V2.0.

Do I install the kit's "For Second Controller Option" SWCC software
first thing ?
Do I need to do anything AdVFS-wise (flush?) before I replace the 4
SIMMS ?
        ( I'm going to 64MB on both controllers ).
Are there any other "gotchas" ?

I'm afraid I'm not RA3000 trained and rely solely on the books and
Compaq's
slow callback time ( I've been waiting now, and decided to try the
FAST list ).
It's too bad the Installation Guide doesn't mention the CD.

        Thanks,
