Reading DAT Audio tapes?

Hello...

This may seem like an odd question, but is it possible to read standard
4MM
DAT tapes that have an audio stream on them, using DEC UNIX? I've tried to
read the
tape with 'dd', but I keep getting a 'no space left on device' error
(referring to
the 'if=/dev/rmt0h'). Doing a 'mt -f /dev/rmt0h status' shows that the tape
is empty, and it obviously isn't.

Is there some modifications that must be made to the tape device driver?
It's a
TLZ07 drive that is usuable with the standard tape backup programs, etc.
It's just seeming
like the dd command doesn't see any data on the tape.

  Thanks in advance...
