Many thanks to dependable Dr. Tom Blinn who confirmed what I suspected.

Sure. Suppose that we managed to regress "autonice" somewhere between
V4.0 and V4.0E. I strongly suspect that NONE of our testing verifies
that we haven't done this.

If you have a support contract, report it as a bug and demand a fix.

What I mean by "regress" is that someone made a change somewhere in the kernel
(since autonice is implemented entirely in the kernel) that broke a facility
that was present and working in the system prior to their change, and thus
they introduced a functional regression -- what was working before no longer
works. It's a bug, plain and simple, ....

Original message:
Since I upgraded from DU V4.0 to Tru64 V4.0E PK1, the autonice function
seems to have stopped working. This was originally set using
dxkerneltuner and in my /etc/sysconfigtab file I have:

proc:
        autonice = 1
        autonice-time = 60

dxkerneltuner shows these values as both current and boot time values
as well as autonice-penalty = 4. But it doesn't work anymore. User
processes continue to run indefinetly at nice 0.

Any ideas?
