I am trying to create accounts in bulk. All accounts will be on nis.
My original thought was to write a script that invoked the useradd
command with the appropriate paramaters. My problem is that I am
unable to set passwords with any command line tools. So I am
considering on editing the password file directly. My question is:
will this break anything? I don't want to trash my account files, but
at the same time I don't want to spend all day in front of dxaccounts
doing data entry.
On a side note. I am unable to change other users' passwords using
yppasswd while logged in as root. yppasswd asks for the Old NIS
password and won't change the password without it.
