Greetings managers,
I've got a dial-up server running Tru64 4.0d in Enhanced (C2)
security. I'm moving it from the AlphaServer 400 (no typo there, its a
400) that its on, to a DS20E. The only services offered on this server
are RADIUS, pop3, SMTP, http (only for user pages, i.e. /~username) and
ftp. From what I can tell, as long as I can keep ftp users in their
respective home directories, I can come out of C2. I'd like to get some
suggestions from the group as to what you're doing with situations like
this. This is on the ISP side of the house, and in my opinion, the C2
constraints are a little much since accounts need to be removed and
recreated so frequently; not to mention distribution of authentication
seems to be a bit of a trick under C2. I've heard mixed reviews on NIS
under C2. I've been fighting with the 'guestgroup' directives in wu-ftpd
to no avail, and have even thought of not offering personal web space for
my customers (I'm sure that would go over well).
I'd be extremely interested in hearing from anyone who has crossed
this hurdle. I'm expecting to need to setup NIS soon also, and it seems
that doing so out of C2 would be much more effective.
Much thanks for any input!
Regards,
Ryan Gray
