Problem:
My initial problem was that some HSZ40's we inherited were failing when
creating a RAIDSET with the following error:
Error 9320: Initialize of container failed due to invalid writeback cache
on THIS_CONTROLLER
Another strange thing was that a SHOW THIS did not include the condition of
the battery. (i.e. Instead of saying something like "The battery is
LOW/GOOD/BAD", it didn't say *anything* about the battery.)
Solution:
I had a lot of replies, but as it turns out no one hit on the solution. It
seems that when Compaq F/S came in to set up the system for shipping it to
us they installed a jumper on the battery board that disabled the battery.
This was a nice thing to do, but unfortunately this fact never got
communicated to us, and I was not aware that this jumper existed.
Removing the jumper fixed the problem. If you're ever going to have your
controllers off-line for a long time I suspect it's a good idea to install
this jumper. (The jumper is the only one on the battery board, and it's
labeled "Disable Battery", so you can't miss it!)
As always thanks for the help.
