Hi All,
Thanks go to:
Daniel Curry: dcurry_at_dollar.com
Arrigo Triulzi: arrigo_at_albourne.com
who pointed me in the direction of patch kzpba_v40f_bl13. This fixes
problems in SMP systems with multiple SCSI adapters. In my case the
ES40 has 4 CPUs, a KZPBA-CA, KZPBA-CB and a KZPCM.
It's now working fine.
Cheers
Joe

I've just taken delivery of a new ES40 which has a RA3000 attached. The
RA3000 has 5x 36Gb disks in a raid5 set configured as a single disk
and mounted on /usr/users. If I try and back this up to the TZ89
the tape spins for a couple of minutes then vdump bombs with
vdump: unable to write to device </dev/nrmt0h>; [5] I/O error
vdump: do you want to retry?
I've runs tapex which showed no problems. If I vdump a different
partition on a local disk it works fine. I'm guessing it's some kind of
interraction between the RA3000 and either the system itself or the tape
drive. Analyze isn't showing anything useful in the way of error
messages.
The tape and the RA3000 are on separate controllers. I've tried several
different tapes too.
The ES40 is running 4.0F, no patches at present.
Any ideas please?
